A dedicated American Teenager's worthy cause

A typical American teenager Ms. Karena Amy of Indo-Irish ancestry growing up in Ohio has been very inquisitive and concerned about the children in other parts of the world.

Being raised by very knowledgeable and astute Human Resources Executive  mother and spending many holidays and vacation time with grandparents, she heard countless stories of children in India and other parts of world. When she heard about many children in India and Africa are denied the simple pleasures of playing and care free life style which she took for granted moved her and became very sad. She did not know how to and what to do for these kids.

Guided by her mother and grandparents she decided to do something but what? She got an idea to raise money by doing some simple project like making something and selling it to her peers and the profit from this venture should go to the charities structured for these disadvantaged children.
 She looked around to her peers and what they should be interested in. Observing their habits and likes and dislikes she came up with a conclusion. Most teen agers are fascinated by jewelry. Some simple and inexpensive jewelry can express their mood and personality.
 
Karena decided on some simple and inexpensive but elegant bracelets and necklaces. Iif she can make them and sell it at a moderate price and the profit from that can go to the charities she is interested in. She made some from the store bought materials and showed them to few friends and they all liked it. She was very much enthusiastic about her project.

Next is the charity.

1.  One charity she focused in was clean water. There are many in India, Africa and other parts of world who do not get clean drinking water due to lack of funds, poor infrastructure and poor weather conditions. This is one of the most fundamental need for human being. Often children were the instrument of labor for fetching the poor quality water from river, streams lakes and ponds which might be considerable distance. Her aim is to provide some of her profits to one of these organization called Water.org
2. She heard from her grandparents about a charity started by a single courageous lady who started out housing a few physically challenged and unwanted poor village girls in India. She tried to provide not only food but medical and educational needs  from her meager savings initially. Karena was moved when she saw the video of this facility and the condition the girls. She decided that she will do something for them.
Karena's project is simple but very big in concept for a teenager who never been to India so far and her willingness to help the people in India from sheer compassion and love she developed from the stories from her mother and grandparents.
